Backups and privacy
Using a pet organizer on a shared browser: privacy and backups
Anyone who can use the same browser profile may be able to read the pet records stored there. Use a device and profile you control, keep exports private and understand the consequences of clearing browser data before entering information.

Know the boundary of browser-local storage
Tail Planner has no account login or separate household permissions. Its records are stored for this site in the browser profile you use. A second profile or another device has separate storage, but that is not a promise of protection from someone with access to the device. Follow the device's normal account and security controls instead of expecting the organizer to provide them.
Enter only what the organizer needs
Routine labels, established care instructions and reachable contacts may be useful. Door codes, passwords, payment details and private account credentials do not belong in a pet profile. Consider who might see the screen or a printout. The organizer's export includes entered records, so unnecessary details travel with the backup too.
Treat downloaded backups as separate private files
Exporting creates a file in your browser's download location or the folder you choose. Clearing the organizer does not automatically remove that downloaded file or a copy you sent elsewhere. Keep an inventory of the exports you retain. Tail Planner does not encrypt a backup file with an account password or upload it to a secure cloud vault.
Be careful with private browsing and cleanup
Private browsing and browser storage cleanup can make records unavailable. Before clearing data, export anything you intend to retain and check that you can find the file. The app's clear control asks for confirmation, but deleted local records cannot be recovered through an account because there is no account copy. Keep a backup rather than treating the browser as a permanent archive.
Handle shared care without inventing shared access
If several people care for a pet, agree on a communication process and review what each person needs. Sending a backup gives the recipient a snapshot of the included records; it does not create a permission-controlled shared household. On a shared computer, consider a separate device or browser profile managed with that computer's normal settings. Do not claim the organizer itself has granted or revoked access.
Quick checklist
- Device and browser access understood
- No passwords or entry codes in pet records
- Export files stored privately
- Backup saved before browser cleanup
- Caregivers understand there is no live sync
Common questions
Does clearing the organizer delete all my backup copies?
No. Downloaded files, printed sheets and copies shared elsewhere are separate and need their own handling.
Can I invite a caregiver to a private account?
No. Tail Planner does not currently offer accounts, invitations, roles or cloud synchronization.
